Back with a bang
21st birthday + finally got my computer fixed. To tell the truth, I don't really give a shit about my birthday, Ive been drinking forever and I think gambling is stupid, besides, Im starting to feel old (I actually felt depressed for a time today). Anyhow, just an excuse to go fuck off for the next week. Current Mood: cheerful | | Saturday, April 2nd, 2005 | | 7:21 pm |
Oh yeah, and the Pope died. Not that Im glad he's dead (he was a great man), but damn, I have to say its a miracle the poor guy even made it to the new millenium. He could barely even talk anymore and his hat weighed down his head. RIP Current Mood: blank | | 7:17 pm |

23rd anniversary of the beginning of the Malvinas (or "Falklands") War. The Malvinas were discovered in 1520 by Esteban Gomez and where owned by France for a period before being returned to Spain in 1767. They were ruled separately with a governor and commander for a period until independence. The British had always tried to lay claim to the islands, sending an expedition in 1765 by John Byron to “discover” them and occupying the easternmost island, claimed at the time by the French. After Spanish rule, the Malvinas were a part of the Buenos Aires governed Vice-royalty of Rio de La Plata which encompasses what today is Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile. Of course, freemasonry didn’t hesitate to take advantage of the chaotic situation during and after Latin American independence from Spain and the British gained increasing influence all over South America, particularly holding strong influence in its industrialization and holding hegemony over the railroad and coal-mining industries. They also took advantage of the under-developed military in Argentina to invade the islands in 1833. April 2, 1982, after 149 years of failed diplomatic negotiations for the return of the islands to Argentina, General Leopoldo Galtieri sent a task force to occupy them. Unfortunately, apart from the air-force, the Argentinian army was unprepared for combat. Most of the soldiers were young draftees doing compulsive military service and equipment was scarce. Galtieri, a corrupt and treacherous puppet dictator who used the Malvinas to reinforce his waning popularity, believed that the British would not try to reclaim the Islands by force and that if they did, that he would receive support from the US, a staunch ally of British imperialism, because he supported their faction in the civil war in El Salvador. The soldiers, however, fought bravely and against all odds for two months, not to mention the air-force which, with its combination of skill and dedication, devastated British ships. spring break
Finally, this has been a long month. So last night, I was too lazy to do anything so I rented a movie. I thought I had gotten Die Hard but somebody put the wrong movie behind the box and I didn't realize it until I was going to watch it. Out of all movies, it was Edge of Seventeen. I had never heard of this movie before and didn't know what it was about (by the title, I assumed it was just some cheesy teenybopper flick) and I had nothing else to do so I popped it in for shits and giggles... disturbing to say the least. Moral of this story: drinking too much makes me do stupid and clumsy shit that I regret (like not looking at the title of the damn movie I am picking up). Oh yeah, happy easter and all that good stuff. Current Mood: annoyedCurrent Music: Bad Manners - In the Jungle | | Friday, February 11th, 2005 | | 5:40 pm |
